Favourite Youtube channels
A few years back, YouTube was just a place to watch funny clips of dogs or bears on trampolines for me until I re-discovered makeup. It was around the same time that I threw myself into the beauty groups of Facebook that I realised that YouTube had grown into a massive platform and I became addicted.
I love watching many beauty videos out of pure nosiness, I love to watch about other peoples lives and what products they use. Since watching videos on Youtube I have discovered that I prefer to watch it over ordinary TV often because of the reality of it all. I have since discovered that YouTube offers a wealth of content and if I ever want to learn about something or how to do things I will go to YouTube first.
I thought it would be good to write about my favourite YouTuber’s and why I always watch their videos whenever they are uploaded
Miss Budget Beauty, otherwise known as Mikila was one of the first channels I subscribed to when I first discovered YouTube and I have been following her channel for many years. Mikila stood out for me at the time due to being from the UK; at the time it felt like the whole beauty was dominated by beauties from the US. I was also drawn in by the budget element of her channel, being a money conscious person I always want to get the best value for money.
MBB is such a down to earth and likeable person and I genuinely trust her opinion on products and I don’t just watch her beauty videos. I watch all of her content because she honest and interesting to watch which I rarely do with YouTube channels as there is so much content out there, her vlogs and other videos are so relatable as a northern mother of two.
This fabulous lady is a recent discovery and I am so pleased to have discovered her channel. I found her through looking for swatches of the Modern Renaissance lipsticks from Makeup Revolution and it is safe to say that Samantha adores Makeup Revolution as a brand and covers most of their releases.
Samantha is another channel who I would trust for product reviews as she is so genuine and such a genuine person, it feels like listening to a friend talking to me. I also love how she does a lot of tutorials that are easy to follow and are more ‘wearable’ looks compared to some of the tutorials on YouTube, even though I love my makeup to be bold at times, I also like to get ideas for what I can wear to work and Samantha is amazing at it.
Tammi is another recent discovery that I found through my love of Makeup Revolution, of which Tammi is a spokesperson. Tammi is a great source of information for budget beauty addicts like myself and she also does the most amazing tutorials and stunning eyeshadow looks. Tammi is such a likeable person and has such a bubbly character that I again feel like I am listening to a friend.
Tammi is an amazing, talented makeup artist and deserves to be successful; she is more genuine than many YouTubers that have millions of subscribers and they could learn from her in terms of connecting and caring for her audience and having a genuine passion for makeup, rather than being sponsored.
Leah from Leah XL is someone I discovered on the many makeup groups I visit on Facebook, she is similar in age to myself and is a champion of Thirty plus blogging and having confidence in yourself. When people talk about YouTube they usually associate it with a younger audience but there has been a growth in content for more mature audiences who have different makeup needs.
I also love how honest Leah is, she will not sugar coat things, this is refreshing to watch and she often quite outspoken on a variety of topics. I enjoyed watching her video’s where she talks about different topics like positivity, money, weight loss and makeup dupes. I am also envious of her curly hair, being someone who as bone straight hair that does not hold a curl I would love to just for once have hair like hers.
Hollife is the most recent addition to my favourite YouTubers and I discovered her blog at first and soon found that she had her own YouTube channel. Hollife is a pale skinned beauty with a complexion that is similar to mine and so I find that helpful when looking for base products that will be light enough for my skin.
I like that Hollife again does many empties, favourites and haul videos; it gives me an idea of what products are out there and which ones to avoid. At present Hollife is doing a project where she uses every makeup product she has in her collection and tracks how she feels about them in order to help her declutter in the future, being a person how has far too much makeup I think I should follow her example and try to work out what I want to keep. Hollife also uses a bullet journal to track her progress with this project and to organise herself, another reason I love watching her videos.
This channel is such a great resource for information and research which I often turn to when I need to find out about the latest makeup releases and makeup news. Jen is such a breath of fresh air in the makeup community with her ‘tell it like it is attitude’ which makes her great to watch, much like the YouTuber Stephanie Nicole, Jen is someone that does a lot of research for the content she produces and is reliable.
She produces the ‘What’s Up In Makeup’ series of video’s where she goes through the week’s makeup news, this is a regular Monday morning watch for me as Jen posts on Sunday and then does a weekly live chat with her community. My favourite video’s of hers are her opinion videos where she talks about certain issues within the community and her judgement on things; she is logical with weighing up all the information and coming up with an informed opinion.
This is a channel that I discovered when going through my ‘nail polish phase’ and I could not get enough of people showing off their nail polish collections and new purchases. Holly is such a classically beautiful lady and I am so envious of her gorgeous mane of hair. Apart from nail polish she also does empties and hauls and talks about beauty in general.
I also like that Holly puts her bloopers at the end of each video; I look forward to seeing her mess up,not because I am men but because it reminds me that nobody is perfect which is something that some YouTubers often portray and I feel like it is misleading, Holly likes to keep things on the honest side.
Along with Miss Budget Beauty, Sprinkle of Glitter was one of the first channels I subscribed to and Louise Pentland was already a big name in the YouTube community with millions of followers and tours around the country. Louise is not a beauty blogger but more of an overall lifestyle blog and covers many topics, from children to female empowerment and being confident and true to yourself.
Louise has led a lot of her life under the scrutiny of YouTube and has done it with honesty and realism; she has gone through the break up of her marriage, getting back into dating, starting new relationships to having a second child all with a smile on her face at the end of it all. I love the feeling of community she has about her channel and how much she cares about her ‘Sprinklerino’s’.
I hope you enjoyed finding out about my favourite YouTubers; if you are in the market for some new channels then I wholeheartedly recommend that you check out these channels. Who are your favourite YouTuber’s, let me know in the comments as I love to check new channels?
Ciao for now beauties xx
