What’s in my makeup box
I am a nosey person and enjoy seeing how people conduct their lives on a daily basis; this includes watching videos and reading blogs on how fellow makeup addicts store their makeup collections. Since as I enjoy looking into other people’s makeup collections and storage I figured I better practice what I preach and show you how I store my day to day makeup.
Why such a big box
My box never used to be this big; I started with a rather small and understated box, but with any person who has an obsession. My collection grew at rapid pace and before I knew it, my huge makeup bag bulged at the seams. Having too much makeup in one confined space is not productive when you try to put your makeup on in the morning; I forever struggled to find what I wanted and always having to swap around my palettes every few days because I could only fit one in at a time. I also had another problem that threatened to mess with my makeup and that was my 18-month-old daughter who had discovered that her Mum kept her makeup in an somewhat accessible bag in the living room.
So, to solve these problems I looked at steel lockable cases and put one on my Christmas Wish List in the hope I would get it. What I received from my wonderful Mother in Law was so much better than I imagined; she got me the Pretty Pink Large Black Aluminium Vanity Case which is not just huge but has great compartments that means I can reach for what I want in a quick and easy manner.
Compartment 1 – base products
This box satisfies my obsession with organising things into compartments; I love that I can have all my base products all in one section. I keep all of my primers, foundations and concealers here so that if I fancy just doing a simple face I do not have to go through every compartment. In this section, I currently have the PS Love my perfect colour foundation, Revlon colour stay foundation, the Seventeen Phwaor paint concealer, PS my perfect colour concealer, Nyx undereye concealer, Freedom HD powder, Nyx pore filler primer, the Illamasqua Satin Primer and the Gerald Cosmetics Slay All Day Setting spray in Lavender.
Compartment 2 eyes and miscellaneous
This is the most random compartment I have as it is a mixture of things. This compartment is at the top of the box due to having everything I need for a simple makeup look if I am in a hurry. I keep eye products and brows in here, but I also have a bronzer/highlighter there as well. In this section I have the Freedom brow pomade, Illamasqua gel eyeliner (sample), PS Lash out mascara, Seventeen Va Va Voom mascara, Essence Gel liner, Nyx eyeliner, Essence 2 in 1 eyeshadow primer, Essence super precise eyeliner, the PS fine liner pen, Sugarpill single eyeshadow in Midori, Benefit gimme brow and the Makeup Revolution renaissance bronze and glow.
Compartment 3 highlighters
This is not all of my highlighters in the box as I keep some in the bottom compartment due to them being larger palettes. This is where I have the single highlighters and small highlight palettes as well as a pressed glitter from the Oh My Glitter Mystery Box. The products in the box are the Balm Luminizer sisters holiday palette, the Makeup Revolution Ghost Lights highlighter, MUA strobe and glow, the Sleek Solstice palette, Phees Makeup Shop highlight in Buzz Luxe and the Makeup Revolution liquid highlighter in Starlight.
Compartment 4 lip Liners and lipsticks
This one is perhaps the compartment with the most items inside as lipliners are quite easy to store and take little room. I also love having as much variety of lip liners and lipsticks to hand so I do not just stick to one all the time. I will regularly swap my lipsticks around every couple of weeks so I do not get bored.
I am going through massive mauve lip phase and most of my lipsticks are all mauve shades apart from the odd nude, red or dark purple. The reason I adore mauve lips as it acts much in the same way as a nude, to blend in with looks and not detract from the eye makeup but it also suits my fair complexion well, some of my favourite shades are currently in there at the moment; J* Scorpio, Unicorn Blood and Dirty Money, Lime crime Posh, Moonstone, Cashmere, LA Splash Romance and Seductress, Mac Twig and the Makeup Revolution Renaissance Lipsticks in Greatest, Vintage and Luxe. The majority of my lip liners are from Essence, I would recommend their lipliners (the retractable ones or the black pencil ones) as they are so creamy and so amazing and help my lipstick last for ages, my favourite shades are Girl Next Door, Rosewood and Plumcake.
Bottom compartment; eyeshadow, highlighter and blush palettes
This is the part I have been dreading as I know that this may be excessive and considering I have a whole other box of eyeshadow palettes upstairs in my bedroom makes me feel sick. It started off quite well with me just putting my Makeup Geek custom palette of neutral shadows and then a few smaller and more colourful ones. As with every person who has an obsession, the box started with around four palettes and I have been filling it with as many palettes I can fit as humanly possible, I am well aware I have a problem and part of my problem is sheer laziness than I cannot be bothered to keep swapping my palettes around every week.
I have many custom palettes in this section as they contain my favourite eyeshadows; I have a neutral Makeup Geek palette, a green and blue Makeup Geek palette, a purple Makeup Geek palette, a Makeup Geek Blush and Contour palette along with a La Femme Blush Palette. The highlight palettes I have are the Anastacia Beverly Hills Nicole Guerriero palette, the Moonchild Palette and a Phees Makeup Shop custom palette with various single highlighters. The eyeshadow palettes I have at the moment are from Makeup Revolution; Soph X, Mint Chocolate bar, Rose Gold Chocolate bar, the Water palette, Sparkles palette and the Flawless 4 palette. I also have the Sleek Snapshots palette, ABH Modern Renaissance, Juvia’s Place Zulu palette, a Sugarpill palette and the Fire and Ice palette from Oh My Glitter.
So that is what I currently have in my makeup box, I do have other makeup items that I will regularly swap around and maybe I will resurrect my old Shop My Stash posts that first got me into blogging a year ago. I hope you enjoyed this post and seeing some of my makeup collection; what are you currently using in your makeup stash, I would love to know in the comments.
Ciao for now beauties xx
