Favourites Vol. 1

I always like reading and watching what other people like using; favourite posts are a great way of finding out about all the good products are. It is so hard to find out what is a genuinely good product and what is hyped up by the beauty community and bigger influencers. I tend to rely on smaller Youtubers and bloggers as, being one myself, I can assure you that I have purchased these products myself and would recommend and repurchase them, my opinion of these is only driven by love for them.

Long checked shirts long cardigans
This has been a staple in my wardrobe all through Autumn and Winter and I think I’ll still be wearing them well into spring and summer as they’re so versatile. The reason I love checked shirts and long cardigans is that they cover up all the lumps and bumps that I want to and go well with jeggings which are easy to throw on and are comfortable, perfect for a busy mum like myself. The trend for check shirts reminds me of my teenage years growing up in the 90s and is great thrown over a T-shirt.
Nail polish

As I said in my autumn nail polish post I used to be obsessed with nail polish and have quite a big collection of them but after having my daughter I stopped wearing it altogether. I have now rediscovered my love for nail polish and I’ve been enjoying painting my nails in lots of dark Autumn and Winter colours. My nails are not in a good condition at the moment due to being busy at work so I’ve cut them down and I have embraced short nails with my favourite colours being dark, not quite black, purples and greens. You can see what new nail polish I got in my presents post.

Unicorn socks
Who doesn’t love a good novelty sock? As some of you might know I enjoy shopping in the pound shops and seeing what bargains I can get and when I saw these socks I just had to buy some immediately. Since having my daughter Layla I have been channelling my inner little girl and have gone back to all things fabulous, sparkly and cute. You might remember the My Little Pony haul were I bought lots of cute stationery. These socks make me want to run and jump around and enjoy life to the fullest acting silly and ridiculous.

Make-up Revolution Soph X palette
This has got to be my all-time favourite pallets of 2017 I’ve used it so much since I got it and my temptation would be to use it every single day but I have other palettes to use. Make-up Revolution has become my favourite brand I have not been disappointed with any of my purchases from Tam beauty this year. Often I am wary of beauty gurus doing collaborations with brands as often they tend to be surrounded by controversies like the Nikki tutorials power of makeup palette and the Jaclyn Hill and Becca collaborations that were pulled off the shelves when the poor quality was exposed.

Make-up Revolution Renaissance lipstick in Greatest
This lipstick has become my everyday go-to lipstick and has left all my other lipsticks languishing in my lipstick box. This is such a classic nude lipstick and the formula is amazing, it lasts all day and also hydrates my lips with its creamy formula. The creamy formula is good in the winter months when my lips are dyhydrated due to the cold. At only £4 this lipstick Lowes all of my Mac lipsticks out of the water in terms of formula and longevity.

PS Foundation with vitamin E
This Foundation has been great as the weather has become colder, it has been my saviour. This foundation has been great this winter; it has good coverage, is pale enough for my skin and the vitamin E within the foundation has kept my skin hydrated all through the day. I suffer from dry skin in the winter and my Rosacea flares up so any product with added moisture in it is a real bonus. I also feel that at 2.50 this foundation is an absolute bargain and rivals the Vichy Dermablend that I used to use but was too dark for me.

Mua Tropic Oceana palette
I am well aware that this palette was released as a summer palette but I have been enjoying using this to create more festive inspired looks that have pops of colour. This palette has a great range of colours; oranges, pinks, purples, greens and blues create a palette that is a must-have for any colour addict like myself. I also love the formula of these shadows, they are just as good as some higher end brands I have tried; the mattes blend to perfection and the shimmer/foiled shades are divine. Recently I have been using Makeup Geek’s Crème Brule as a transition, then throwing a brown shade like Brownie Point in the crease and them going to town with colour on the lid, this technique works with every colour in the palette and you can use the darker variation’s in the outer V and then use the lighter ones in the main areas of the lid and then pop the lightest shimmer shade in the inner corner of the eye.

Avon perfume Little Black Dress
I always have to have a ‘work perfume’, by this I mean a budget-friendly perfume that I can use every day and not be too upset if I were to run out of it. My work perfume is usually a light, fruity/ sweet scent that is not too strong but is still gorgeous and will get me through the day. My last perfume was Britney Spears’ Midnight Fantasy which did the job great but after using 100ml of it I was ready for a change. I have made my way through quite a few, usually, celebrity endorsed, perfumes in my time and I fancied something different. I struggled to find something I wanted and then a brainwave hit me, Avon does perfume. There are obvious risks when purchasing perfume without smelling it but they were having a half price offer on many of their perfumes so I took a change an bought three. This perfume is my standout favourite and I will definitely buy this one again; it is the perfect daytime perfume, it is light and feminine and lasts well. It has honeysuckle, gardenia, jasmine sandalwood and cashmere musk and I love the combination.
Make-up geek eyeshadow in Crème Brule
This has become an everyday product, it is the quintessential transition colour and the Makeup Geek formula is fantastic. I have quite a considerable amount of Makeup Geek eyeshadow that I have accumulated over the years and there is a clear reason why, because they are great quality, so pigmented and they blend like a dream, it makes applying makeup a joy. I sometimes neglect to use them as I have so many different eyeshadows but I am determined to give them more love in 2018.
What products are you currently crazy about, let me know in the comments as I love trying out new things?
Ciao for now beauties xx

I prefer these lipsticks over more expensive ones like Mac the creamy ones like greatest are just amazing

  2. We don’t have one of those brands here… but I like REVLONS Colorstay foundation in the lightest shade, its the only one that doesn’t leave me looking orange or like my face is a different color from my body.

I have the Revlon colourstay too in the lightest shade. Rimmel in the lightest shade is good as well. Companies are finally realising we don’t want to look like Oompa Loompas

      1. thank goodness!! Rimmel oxydizes after I put my photoready powder on and makes it too dark… i know…is sad!

I use the one with the blue top and it never oxidized. I am looking for a cc cream but it’s a big task finding the right one

  3. I like the colours of your eyeshadows so vibrant . I haven’t tried that brand yet .Is it highly pigmented? I heard they are affordable too!

China Glaze nail polishes are AWESOME! And novelty socks are my thing. I don’t think I have unicorn socks, though! I must get these! Great favorites! Thank you for sharing. <3

  5. Make Up Revolution have an offer on in Superdrug at the moment where you get a free (Love Conquers All – neutrals + a pinky highlighter) £8 pallette when you spend £12. Now I am very sorely tempted to get the bits you recommend, plus a freebee!
