What’s ride or die
Have you ever had a product that you couldn’t live without? That one product that is perfect for you? If the answer is yes then you have a ‘Ride or Die’ product. Put simply a ‘ride or die’ product is a thing that you cannot live without, it is a favourite. I have been a makeup addict for just over two years and I have tried my fair share of different makeup along the way, there are a few that have made such a good impression that they have stayed with me and become firm favourites.
I am going to share with you the products I love and definitely couldn’t live without, so here are my ‘ride or die’ products.
Rimmel lasting perfection concealer
This is my ‘go to’ concealer for everyday use, I must be on my fifth tube by now. The reason I love this concealer so much is that it is illuminating and brightens everything up. It is great as a highlighting concealer but also it covers my dark circles in a way that looks natural and fresh rather than cakey.
I have used many other concealers; Bourjois, LA Girl, Tropic, Collection, Maybelline to name a few, but nothing has compared to the Rimmel concealer. If I want a higher coverage, I do add a little Seventeen Pwaor paint where the darkest part of my under-eye. However, on a day to day basis, the Lasting Perfection Concealer is everything I need in a concealer.
Gerard Cosmetics Slay all day peach setting spray
This has been a recent purchase that I fell in love with instantly, mainly due to the gorgeous smell. I had been resisting buying this, despite seeing many people raving about it and saying I needed to get it.
I had mainly been avoiding it because I was shying away from Gerard Cosmetics in general as there had been some controversy with the owner calling a customer ‘ugly’. I am all about boosting others so this type of behaviour didn’t sit well with me, but after my Nyx dewy setting spray ran out and I was doing an order on Beauty Bay for Sugarpill eyeshadows I decided to take the plunge and try it.
The moment I sprayed it, I was in love with the peach scent, it felt so refreshing and nice that I was hooked. It is also really good as a setting spray; every day it keeps my makeup in place and if I layer the setting spray for a special occasion, it will make my makeup last for what seems like forever. I went on a night out from 7 pm and did not get home till 4 am and my makeup was still in place. I will be definitely be repurchasing it.
Beauty Bakerie lip whip in Swiss Mocha Frappe
This next one has to be my ultimate, favourite liquid lipstick formula and my all time favourite shade, it wins hands down in both categories. I had not really heard of Beauty Bakerie or their fantastic ‘Lip Whips’ until I was reading on Facebook about a girl who had been ‘scammed’ by an unscrupulous makeup buyer who had lied about receiving her item. It is a strange way to discover your favourite lipstick but it is indeed a true story.
I spoke to one of my very dear ‘makeup friends’ about them and found out that she had a few and really loved them, saying they were better than Jeffree Star’s liquid lipsticks. I did a little bit of investigating and found that they were on offer at ASOS so I thought I would take the plunge.
When looking at the shades it was hard to choose which two to get as they were all lovely; I picked Salted Caramel as it was a classic nude that was wearable with everything. When I then saw Swiss Mocha Frappe, I was in love and knew that I ‘must have’ that lipstick, it was like a scene out of the film ‘Wayne’s World’ and I was chanting ‘Oh yes, it will be mine’.
This lipstick is my favourite because it speaks to my soul; its cool toned hints of grey and almost purple make it similar to Jeffree Star’s ‘Scorpio’ (which used to be my favourite) but it was more wearable in my opinion. I feel like this is ‘my shade’ it just suits me and it lasts for ages, the formula is so long wearing, the best I have tried in a liquid lipstick.
Modern Renaissance Palette
If I could only have one palette for the rest of my life, this would definitely be it. This palette is such a great quality palette, so smooth and blendable and the colours are great for both everyday and night time looks.
This, out of all my palettes, is the one I grab the most for a neutral eye look, it has everything you could want. I have already hit pan on one shade and think I will be hitting a few more very soon.
I have done a few autumn inspired using this palette and you can see them here. This palette can be used in any season and proves great value for money as they are so easy to apply and really does prove that quality does win over in this case.
Freedom brow pomade
Last, but by no means least, is the Freedom Brow Pomade which is a dupe for the Anastacia Beverly Hills brow pomade but at a fraction of the price. I am a big lover of Tam Beauty products as they are great quality at such affordable prices; they are a brand that shows you can have a ‘high end’ face on ‘pocket money’ prices, something I am all about, as not everyone has the budget to spend 15 pounds on one jar of pomade.
The journey of my eyebrows has been a long drawn out and annoying one which has seen me grow them from thin, 90’s inspired ‘hardly there’ brows to fuller brows that my idol Audrey Hepburn would be proud of.
I have this brow pomade in two shades; Ash Brown and Dark Brown, purely due to the face that I change my hair colour so often and I need to adapt my brows to suit. My natural brow shade is towards the Ash Brown and whenever I have a cool toned colour on my hair, it is perfect. Recently I have had my hair a warm toned red so I have been leaning towards the dark brown.
If you want to know all about how I do my brows, you can find the tutorial I did here.
Apologies for the long, rambling post, I get pretty passionate about championing the products I love. The question is, what are your ‘ride or die’ beauty products; I would love to hear in the comments, maybe I will find some more to add to my ever-growing list of favourites.
Ciao for now beauties xx
