5 Things You Should Tell Yourself Everyday

As some of you might know I’ve been trying my best to live my life more positively and try not to take all the negatives in life to heart. This is very much easier said than done as I am terrible at following my own advice. I posted recently about five things that keep me sane but I really haven’t had the time to do these things at the moment, I feel a bit miserable about that.

The reason I have not been able to do the things that keep me focused is purely through being unbelievably busy at the moment; it might sound like I’m making excuses of which I hate (as I say to the pupils I teach ‘excuses are boring’) However despite me not being able to do the things that keep me centred, it got me thinking as to ways I can still keep positive even if I don’t have the ability to have some ‘me time’ and look after myself.

So I got to thinking about things that I should constantly keep in my mind when going through my day. I might not have time to spend a while on my make-up or go out for a walk but if I’m telling myself these things then hopefully it will make the day brighter and I can get through all of the challenges that are thrown at me.

I can achieve anything with hard work

Well almost anything, you may not be able to build a time machine on magic the winning lottery ticket numbers up but there are not many things that cannot be achieved through just sheer determination and hard work.

I feel like you can have all the talent in the world but without hard work you really wont achieve and realise your goals. This is summed up in a great quote by the actor Will Smith:

“The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams, who want to do things. Talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft.”

When you feel like you are working harder than anyone else and you were swimming against the tide keep going because your hard work will pay off in dividends at some point.

Mistakes are all part of the process

Everyone makes mistakes and we need mistakes in order to learn and grow as a person. I make several mistakes every single day and hopefully they have helped shape a better me. I don’t like to think of mistakes as something negative but as a step towards what you want to achieve as they say you live and learn Thomas Edison said:

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

I am  awesome and I am worth it.

Whether you believe it or not, trust me when I say that you are awesome. You have so much to offer the world; skills, talent, a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen.

The input you make into your day matters to other people, it can help them and it can console them or it could just get them out of a tight spot, but either way your input into the world means something.

It sounds like those cheesy L’Oréal adverts saying that you’re worth it but you really are, you contribute so much good to the people around you and without you, people’s lives would surely be worse off. You are so awesome that you can that you can face any challenge that the day throws at you and you can do it in your own very special awesome way.

I cannot define myself by other people’s choices

We all have the ability to make our own choices whether they are good or not so good. So why define yourself by the actions of others? The only person you can truly control is yourself and when certain situations arise people act differently so why let other people’s decisions make you feel bad as a person, after all, it’s their decision. As the saying goes “you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink or do the Macarena for that matter.”

Enjoy the little things

Life is so unbelievably hectic at times and it is easy to get caught up in the whirl wind. Too much running around and too much thinking will only lead to your brain getting overloaded, so take a step back, even if it’s just for five or 10 minutes a day. There is so much beauty in the little things around you and you need to stop and take a minute to appreciate how precious they actually are. Enjoy that quiet five minutes with a coffee, listen to your favourite song on the drive into work or simply just watch the world pass by. Being grateful for these little things in life will give you a much happier perspective on things.

I hope that this will help people have brighter days and spread some happiness and self love. Let me know what things you tell yourself every day to help make it through the day. Ciao for now life fans xx
