Another haul; Superdrug, Beauty Bay and Primark I know, I said I would be shopping anymore. I have done well to curb the amount I spend on makeup but a few things slipped through the net in what was an absolutely horrendously busy month. I feel like this haul, apart from a few luxury items has been a practical collective shop. This…
Everything needs a strong and solid foundation; without one, things would not be the same. Just like towers have foundations and steel structures, a good base for your makeup is essential.
Spring is officially upon us and we can kiss goodbye to those dark, depressing, cold days. I am grateful for the upcoming Spring as a chance to nurture my positive side and focus on the things that make me happy.
First Impressions can be misleading
I am wary of a first impression of a product as it is not a real test on how good or bad a product is. Have you ever met someone and thought ‘this person is lovely’ only to find out down the line that they are the devil incarnate. Likewise I have met people that I did not warm to at first who are now firm friends. The same thing can be applied to your first impressions of a product. Whenever I do a haul or project pan, I am conscious that I am fallible to changing my mind about makeup after using it for a while. I even have a product on my disappointing products list that I would repurchase. I based my post on my first impressions and using the product up made me realise how good it was, I am a walking contradiction.
A fragrance is such an evocative thing; it can remind you of summers as a teenager, people you love or memorable events. Your sense of smell determines so much within your life; it can stir up strong feelings of love, comfort and even disgust. Over the years I have tried many a fragrance or three and it is accurate to say that my tastes have altered and changed along the way.
I love you Mum Mother’s Day is very near here in the UK and it is the opportunity to show our appreciation to our wonderful Mums. Being a Mother myself I can now appreciate how hard the job can be at times. My own Mum certainly deserves a lot of love for putting up with…
Why do a collective haul?
The simple reason for this is for productivity reasons. At my current rate of two posts a week I have realised that I do not have the space for as many hauls. The frequency of haul posts is alerting me to the fact that I have a slight shopping obsession.
Who doesn’t love the idea of rummaging through somebody else’s trash? For me, watching empties videos on YouTube is for me much better than haul videos because you get to find out what a product is like as often, just after a haul you will still have that ‘new purchase euphoria’ that can cloud your mind. It sometimes is a measure of a product that after you have finished the whole thing, you still want to use it, and indeed repurchase it while other products you cannot wait to finish because you feel like they are not that good.
The Scrooge of Valentines
Myself and Mr T got married on Valentines day; not because we thought it would be a romantic idea but due to it was the only date that was available that fitted with my teaching schedule and us not wanting a summer wedding. Whenever I tell people that my anniversary is on Valentines I get ‘that’s so sweet’ but then I tell them that myself and Mr T do not do valentines cards/gifts they look at me like I am crazy.
I always like reading and watching what other people like using; favourite posts are a great way of finding out about all the good products are. It is so hard to find out what is a genuinely good product and what is hyped up by the beauty community and bigger influencers. I tend to rely on smaller Youtubers and bloggers as, being one myself, I can assure you that I have purchased these products myself and would recommend and repurchase them, my opinion of these is only driven by love for them.
