• Nominate 3 different bloggers for each day.
Good is not a thing you are, good is a thing you do. Ms Marvel
This quote is a favourite of mine as it reminds me of the term ‘actions speak louder than words’. I have always been a person that believes in the power of doing good. Having kindness within your heart and sharing it with the world with ultimately make the world a better place.
I have always heard people say things like ‘she is a good student’ but how do you measure that? A student does not immediately earn the term ‘good’ as they walk through the door, it is earned. I have taught so many pupils that had the potential for great things but unfortunately, have fallen short of their ability. Why have they fallen short when they are potentially ‘good’?
The answer for that is that they did not put in the work, they made choices that were not focused on bettering themselves. As a result, they have not achieved the accolade of being a good student.
This also can be applied to our lives in general. You might say that you are a good person because you do not break the laws of the land, but does that truly make you good? I have always believed that the actions of a person are so much more powerful than words. It is easy to say ‘I’m sorry’ but much harder to show that you are sorry for your actions and trying not to repeat the mistake you have made again.
Being good is such a subjective term that is hard to define so instead of worrying whether you are good or not, go out and do good. Doing good for others, showing empathy and kindness, cannot hurt people. It will ultimately make both you and the benefactor happy and encourage a culture formed on compassion rather than violence.
Today I would like to nominate
