Spring Nail Polish

Bringing out the Spring Nail Polishes

A change is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when it comes to embracing Spring. There are two different types of beauty addict; those who wear their favourite colours/shades all year round and those that change with the season. Of those two I am more of the later; I like to swap and change the colours I use defendant on what season it is. This fact is especially true when it comes to my nail polish collection.
I love how each season is different. I have put my autumn and winter nail polishes away for the time being and riffled through my nail polish box to find the perfect polishes to accompany me throughout the season. I have categorised these into four colour collections greens/blues/purple & pink and finally the warm tones.

The Greens

green nail polish for spring

China Glaze My Little Pony Cutie Mark the Spot
This collection was released last year and as soon as I found out about them I put some of them on my Christmas wishlist. I was lucky and received them for my birthday. This is a staple shade for me throughout the warmer months, any mint shade is up high on my go-to list. This is a perfect pastel mint green cream formula. It reminds me of the shade ‘That’s Hularious’ by OPI which I have in a mini and have nearly used up. This is a brilliant replacement and I am happy to say China Glaze are cruelty-free.
Essie Going Guru
I got this from Fragrance Direct which is a great place to grab nail polish at a discounted rate. I was drawn to this as it reminded me of an ‘ugly beautiful’ shade. Some people might look at this and instantly think yuck but when on the nail this colour is so beautiful; a deeper and richer mint compared to the previous nail polish. I do not intend to buy Essie nail polishes again but I am glad I picked this out before I moved to full cruelty free shopping. .
Barry M Greenberry
I have had this colour for a while and I adore how bright it is. Barry M nail polishes have such a great formula and last really well. They are just as good in quality as Essie and OPI and I would highly recommend them if you want a cruelty-free alternative to some of the higher end polishes.
China Glaze For Audrey
As the name suggests this polish is a homage to Audrey Hepburn’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s. This sumptuous Tiffany green/blue shade is perfect for this Spring. I can imagine myself out in the sunshine, watching the children play in the garden, delicious drink in hand, sporting this beautiful shade on my nails. I look at this and I instantly think of elegance and sophistication, something I would like to incorporate into my style.

blue nail polish for spring

The blues

PS quick dry nail polish baby doll blue
This is a new purchase for me and I cannot wait to try this colour out on my nails. I have always preferred more bold, bright blues but thought this would be the perfect way to change things up a bit. I can imagine pairing this colour with my long, pale, denim shirt or with my new pair denim jeggings, either way, it will add that little touch of Spring elegance. The only downside to this Polish is it chips easily and within 24 hours of doing my nails I already had bits missing.
Freckles nail polish Party poppers
This one of two indie polishes that I own from Freckles and I will be making sure I use this as it is a perfect blue. I love the holographic shift that this polish has, it shimmers with a gold/green shift.
Essie truth or flare
I love this muted blue, it reminds me of fine China. This is another Polish that can be worn throughout autumn and spring as the muted blue works with the slightly colder weather. I see this Polish and I honestly think of sophistication in a bottle, muted colours tend to have a classic element about them.
P.S nail polish in turquoise dream
You cannot go wrong with turquoise it is such a beautiful colour. I bought this just after Christmas in one of my recent hauls and was not disappointed. I like how this Polish has a Chrome metallic effect which means I can use it in the winter as well as in springtime. Sometimes in spring, I do not fancy wearing a bright pastel colour and so this is a different alternative that I like wearing.

The Purples/Pinks

OPI pink pandemonium
I am not drawn to pink shades as I prefer more purple and Berry tones. However this pink is the perfect Pink for spring and I often like to give myself a break from the purple blues and greens and channel my inner girliness with a coat or two of this Polish. This is the perfect pastel pink to go with any spring outing.
Barry M prickly pear
This is one of my favourite polishes for the spring and I cannot get enough of it. It is the perfect shade of purple that I have seen and if I could get it as a lipstick I would love it too. It is just the perfect shade of lavender/lilac that I have worn on my nails and another bonus is that the Barry M formula is fantastic.
China Glaze As Good As It Glitz
This was part of the China Glaze 2017 Christmas collection and it embraces the rose gold trend that has been around for a while now. This has slightly more pink than traditional rose gold which means it is great for the cool tones of spring. I love this polish because I do not have anything like this in my collection and I am pleased that I will be able to use it throughout the spring as well.
Essence Serendipity
I think I included this in my autumn/winter polishes as well because it is such a universal colour for me. Purple is one of my favourite colours and this is appropriate for any time of the year. I love lilac or mauve tones and this would look great teamed up with a lipstick like Moonstone by Lime Crime.
Loreal 617 you are worth it
This one might have been better placed in the autumn and winter post but again I feel like this colour can work for the spring too. I have never worn grey nail polish much and once I saw this I was determined to give it a go. I love how this grey has a hint of purple that makes it great for those in-between days when it is not sunny.

The Warm Tones

NYC Juice in the bed
I do not usually wear orange nail polishes on account of being fair and cool toned. I am, however, trying to push myself out of my comfort zone and have purchased a few yellow and orange things to my wardrobe. This will be a good shade for both spring and summer and will give anyone’s nails that totally tropical feeling.
China Glaze Lemon Fizz
Again, yellow is not one of my go-to colours but I can make the exception for this shade. This polish is perfect for days out in the sunshine and will go well with a cheeky glass of whatever your drink of choice may be.
NYC full metal jacket
You have got to have one or two colours that embrace the bling and full metal jacket is a great budget option. Often it is hard to find golds that suit my skin as they tend to be on the yellow side, this is not too warm toned so it works great.

Random Wild Card

China Glaze My Little Pony Halo
I included this as my wild card due to it being able to be as a topper. This stunning halo polish will go on top of any of the other polishes to give them that extra sparkle.

What are your go-to spring nail polishes; let me know what you recommend I try out in the comments section. I would love to be given more excuses to extend my nail polish collection.
Ciao for now beauties xx

  1. I’m not into nail polish all that much. But my little sister would go absolutely bonkers about that green shade from Essie. Thanks for sharing, I can now give her a good gift.

I love the idea of yellow polish, but it ends up looking like I am jaundiced! 😆 I have found that metallic gold works better for the aesthetic I am after. Thanks for sharing quite a palette of beautiful nail colors.

I have that problem too, that’s why I pick slightly pale ones to stop it looking that bad. I used to have an orange polish that was lovely but looked terrible on me. I have to be in a certain mood for yellow or orange/peach.

I need to practice what I preach and do mine again; I am so bad for forgetting to do them in the evenings.
